Natural Dyes

The easy availability of chemical dyes has meant a decline in the traditional use of natural dyes. One of our chief objectives is to reverse this trend, and all our products are coloured with natural dyes.

The colours obtained from roots, bark and flowers are very beautiful and are also environmentally friendly. We use only alum as a mordant, which is eco-friendly. Much of our dyeing is done at room temperature, which results in low energy consumption and carbon emission. We also make especial effort to conserve water by using a dye bath for a number of dyeing sessions. The waste water is recycled and used for irrigation in our garden.

The dyeing is done in Masrana village, near Mussoorie.
